Product Data:
Biological target: By mimicking the action of the incretin glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), Semaglutide increases the production of insulin. It also appears to enhance growth of pancreatic beta cells. Additionally, it inhibits the production of glucagon.
In vitro activity: Semaglutide protects against 6-OHDA cytotoxicity by increasing autophagy flux and decreasing oxidative stress as well as mitochondrial dysfunction in SH-SY5Y cells. Semaglutide may be represent a promising treatment for Parkinson's disease. Reference: Parkinsons Dis. 2022 Jul 13;2022:6813017. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35873704/
In vivo activity: Semaglutide has ameliorative effect against cisplatin- induced cardiotoxicity via modulation of mitochondrial functions, dynamics, biogenesis, apoptosis, and redox status pathways. Semaglutide treatment normalized dysregulated mitochondrial function and dynamics, redox status and suppressed mitophagy and apoptosis in male rats with cisplatin-induced cardiotoxicity treated with semaglutide.
