Description: Desfuroylceftiofur is an active metabolite of the broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic ceftiofur. It is formed from ceftiofur by bovine kidney and liver esterases. Desfuroylceftiofur is active against 539 veterinary isolates of Gram-negative bacteria and Gram-positive cocci bacteria (MIC50s = 0.0078-1 and 0.015-4 µg/ml, respectively).
